Easy Grade Pro is a comprehensize electronic gradebook program that allows teachers to organize their entire class'
grades, assignments, attendance, and more with little difficulty. You can eliminate the tedious work behind compiling
your students grades by hand and focus more of your time on teaching. Easy Grade Pro can be purchased online,
however many districts have the program already in place in many of their schools.
The program is very straight-forward, and begins with creating a "class" and you can separate the class by terms/quarters
as well. There is a step-by-step process whenever you create a class that involves adding all of your students names
(you can add more in-depth info for each student including gender or any other necessary comments). Next you create
the calendar for the school year and designate the beginning/end of every term, as well as mark any school holidays
or non-school days. Now that your class is created you can begin creating assignments, tests, seating charts, and
much more.
The program is broken down into 6 different tabs all dealing with the class you create:
Here is a basic breakdown for each of the tabs within the program -
1. Score
The score tab focuses on the grading aspect of your class. You can create assignments in this tab and give
them titles, choose a grading scale, designate amount of points, and then add in your students scores. As
you continue to make assignments and enter grades the program will automatically calculate your student's
scores continually (you can also make a scale for letter grades). When you create an assignment this can
also include projects or tests as well. Another useful aspect of the program is progress reports; the program
will create a report for every individual student at the date you choose. You can pick multiple dates that
correlate with your schools requirements and ease the stress that comes with having to turn in grades.
2. Attendance
The attendance tab is to keep a log of all your students attendance, as well as categorizing the reason for
being absent. For every student you add to the class/term they will automatically be added into the list for
this tab alphabetically. All of the dates for that specific term/year will be listed very similar to how the score
section is arranged with each assignment. There is a key of abbreviations to place in each date if a student
is absent, tardy, or some other reasoning. The program also automatically creates a tab of "excused" and
"unexcused" absences right next to the student's name.
OI - Infirmary OA - School Absence ON - Not Enrolled
3. Seating
The Seating tab is basically a "make your own seating chart" and this is a very useful aspect of the program.
This tab is just a blank white page with numbers columns and rows (however they are quite small and not
necessary) along with individual squares with student's names inside. For ever student you add to that particular
class/term, there will be a square for them in this tab. You can physically move all the names around and create
an exact replica of your classroom seating chart to speed up attendance or for any other use.
4. Student
This tab focuses solely one the "student", (who would have guessed it?). You can add any information about the students in your class as well as organize them. This extra information can include ID numbers, gender, language, grading scale, e-mails, and extra areas for any other information you need (maybe if they need an IEP or something else).
5. Assignment
This is an extension of the "score" tab, and focuses only on the assignments you add. In this area you can add all of the relevant
information for your assignments as explained above. You can mark dates, points, standards, comments, status, and more easily
organize/manage the assignments you create. Assignments can also be marks on a yes/no basis instead of point values.
6. Standard
This is the most complicated area of the program and probably the only area that can cause difficulty. The tab deals with
standard-based grading versus traditional grading. The traditional model is just a normal letter grade, and standard-based
deals with an assignment being graded with a rubric, or a set of skills, or multiple point values for one specific assignment.
This tab is used for when you are grading an essay or project and something where you want to go farther than just
50/50. In reality, you can create a rubric that ends up with a total amount of points and continue using the assignment
tab like usual. However, if you are particular to creating a rubric the program allows you to physically make your rubric on
the computer and assign a point value to each section of your rubric. Beyond just a rubric you can also put in a State
Standard in this area to check mark if your student has mastered this concept. There is much more depth to this section
if you'd like to learn more the Easy Grade Pro manual has a thorough section dealing with all forms of standards.
